Underwater pumpkin carving is a popular autumn scuba diving tradition where divers use SCUBA gear to carve jack-o'-lanterns on the submerged platforms at the lake. 

Pumpkins are naturally buoyant and want to float. Divers place lead weights, bricks, or rocks inside the hollowed pumpkin to keep it stable and submerged. Participants will clean and gut the pumpkin on land before the dive to save air and time underwater. Divers typically use a standard dive knife or secured carving tools clipped on to secure it before carving.

Picking the right Pumpkin, make sure the one you choose is big enough to carve but still small enough for a single diver to manage underwater. You will be carving with a buddy, but they will have their own pumpkin too. 

Some safety tips, As always, be careful with your knives and put tools away when not in use. Stow all knives before descending and ascending.
Most importantly, don’t forget to monitor your air supply, depth and surroundings often. It’s easy to get hyper-focused on fun tasks, but you don’t want to be caught low on air.

Atlantis Aquatics Cancellation/Postponement Policy

Atlantis Aquatics reserves the right to cancel or postpone a class due to weather, lightning, pool closing, or any other circumstance that may cause the course to be postponed. In the event of a class cancellation by Atlantis Aquatics, the student can reschedule or receive a full refund on the instructional portion of the course.

If a student cancels less then 48 hours from a scheduled class, no refund is offered. If a student wishes to reschedule a course less then 14 days from a scheduled class, a $45.00 change fee is in effect. If a student cancels a class greater then 14 days from a scheduled class, the student may receive a refund for the instructional portion of the course minus a $50.00 non refundable amount. No refunds available for cancellation of class less then 14 days from scheduled class.
